Spice Road Table’s New Small Plate Options

There are so many dining options when visiting Epcot, especially in World Showcase. One of our favorites over the years has been Spice Road Table, which is located in the Morocco pavilion. They offer both outdoor and indoor seating, but outdoor is the best choice.

This restaurant has made some changes over the years, but they have always been very accommodating for vegans. Recently they made a switch to being Disney owned (some of the restaurants in Epcot and other places are not actually owned by Disney) so they changed up their menu. They have gone back to being strictly small plates, and they now have the plant-based logo on the menu.

The update means they removed one of our favorites, RIP Vegetable Platter, but they did add some fun new options. On the menu there are two options that are vegan as is, the Pomegranate-Chili Crispy Cauliflower, and the Dolmas. You can also modify the Hummus Fries by removing the Chipotle Sauce, and the Naan Spreads but swapping the Naan for Multigrain Bread.

The new Pomegranate-Chili Crispy Cauliflower is absolutely delicious. They’re similar to cauliflower wings with the breading, then have a sweet and hot sauce on them.

The cauliflower itself is cooked very well, and the breading is very good. It was a good light breading, and not overly fried. The sweet with hot is a great mix. I was nervous it would be a bit tart with the pomegranate but it wasn’t at all. Most of the hot sauce sits on the bottom, so if you’re nervous of heat you can kind of avoid it.

We decided that next time we will not share these as we both want our own. Additionally, we were told there is a potential for cross contamination for these with the calamari.

The Dolmas are an option that have migrated from the old menu. These ones are vegan as is so they are just filled with rice. They come with olives and a charred lemon to squeeze over them.

They are flavorful and tender. They were pretty oily, but that seems to be typical with this style of food.

The Hummus Fries are a festival favorite, and used to be part of the Vegetable Platter. To get these vegan you just need to omit the chipotle sauce, which normally comes on the side anyway.

They crispy little guys are full of flavor and a unique texture. I do wish they had a vegan sauce as they are a little dry. They’re basically deep fried hummus, if you’ve wondered what they would be like.

During the festival we have been told these are cooked in a shared fryer, I assume this is still the case but we don’t know why they brought up the potential CC with the cauliflower and not this.

The Naan Spreads had us the least excited when we found out about the bread swap, however the multigrain bread was actually really good. It was very thin and crispy and well seasoned. We got four pieces of bread to go with the hummus.

The Naan Spreads came with a hummus, chermoula, and olives. This was also very oily. The chermoula and hummus were great on the bread though, and I would absolutely get this option again.

Spice Road Table

One of the reasons we love Spice Road Table is how flavorful everything always is here. The only downside to it is the price. We got all four options and drinks and our bill was $70. Each small plate option is about $9-$12, and we didn’t leave full. It’s great for a snack, but not a full on meal. So plan accordingly, but definitely go here!

Back in 2014 I created Vegan Disney World after going to Walt Disney World several times and finding no resource for vegan options. Corey and I began this blog from our trips and have now moved closer to the mouse to eat around the parks on a weekly basis. Since the blog started we have cruised on Disney Cruise Line, gone to Tokyo Disneyland and to Disneyland in California!
