Regal Eagle Smokehouse BBQ Jackfruit!

We finally made it over to Epcot’s newest quick service, Regal Eagle Smokehouse. This new restaurant replaced the previous Liberty Inn in the America pavilion. The new location has a great new look, and a whole new menu. The main focus here is barbecue, which generally isn’t the most vegan friendly.

However, on the menu here they have a vegan as is option called the BBQ Jackfruit Burger! We knew we would be getting that, but were also curious about any other options we could get here. The Power Greens Salad caught our eye if we could swap the chicken for the jackfruit. We spoke with a coordinator when we were in line to see about kids options and to ask about the salad.

After speaking to the coordinator we were able to get an order of the BBQ Jackfruit Burger, the Power Greens Salad with Jackfruit, and she even was able to get us a kids vegan burger.

While I was looking over the menu here, I realized there is not a single kids vegetarian (let alone vegan) option here. When the coordinator said she would do the burger for us (I asked for it, she did not suggest it), she said they don’t normally do it but would for us. So just ask, and if they can’t accommodate your veg kid, it might be worth going somewhere else.

Our food took quite a while here. They were just generally confused by our order and I would get one item at a time instead of the whole tray of our order at once. After about 15 minutes I finally had all our food and set out to enjoy it.

While I had the coordinator, I made sure to check the ingredients of the sauces they have up by the drink stations, to my surprise all four are vegan! My favorite was the Vinegar League, Bridget’s was the Sizzlin’ Pit Classic Smokehouse. All four of them were good with the burger.

The BBQ Jackfruit Burger name is a little misleading if you think you’re just getting jackfruit. It’s actually a Beyond Burger patty topped with BBQ jackfruit. On the sandwich with those is a vegan garlic mayo and coleslaw all in between garlic toast.

The sandwich was very good. The jackfruit was cooked well and the burger was cooked well. The garlic toast wasn’t very garlicky, as in we didn’t notice it at all when eating the burger, but did when eating the bread alone. The same goes for the mayo, we didn’t really notice it while eating. Obviously this could vary based on day because those things change depending on who makes them. As a whole though, we really enjoyed the sandwich and think it is a great addition to the park.

The Power Greens Salad was also very good. The coordinator was confused about the dressing, but after reading the ingredients multiple times we knew it was safe, so she gave it to us on the side. The salad comes with fresh citrus, radishes, and mixed greens. The BBQ jackfruit with this was absolutely delicious.

Power Greens Salad with Jackfruit

I am generally weird about jackfruit, I often find it too mushy. However here it is a great texture and the flavor is very good as well. The salad was a nice option for lunch and the salad itself was a huge portion. The citrus in it was grapefruit and oranges. I would get this again probably over the burger.

For your side options here there are several vegan ones. We opted for fries and pickles. The fries were very well seasoned. I didn’t confirm if they still in a shared fryer, so ask if that is something you avoid.

The pickles were just okay. It was nice that they are very clearly fresh, but I am not a fan of sweet pickles. They also have a vegan coleslaw side, however our friends reviews steered us away from trying that (aka don’t get it).

Pickles Side

The kids burger was just a plain Beyond Burger with the garlic toast. They seemed to enjoy it. The kids meal comes with a side and dessert. The vegan dessert here is watermelon (fruit is not dessert).

We were pretty excited about this new restaurant and it definitely delivered. I will absolutely be back here, I just hope they come up with a vegan option for kids here sooner than later. If you’re just getting the burger here, be sure to use Mobile Ordering.

Back in 2014 I created Vegan Disney World after going to Walt Disney World several times and finding no resource for vegan options. Corey and I began this blog from our trips and have now moved closer to the mouse to eat around the parks on a weekly basis. Since the blog started we have cruised on Disney Cruise Line, gone to Tokyo Disneyland and to Disneyland in California!

  1. I know that fruit is not the same as dessert, but I got excited when I saw that as the kid’s vegan dessert option. My kid loves watermelon haha! This looks like a great option for our family (vegan with peanut and sesame allergies). Sesame allergy is a particularly tricky one at Epcot.
