Best use of snack credits for vegans 2020

The Disney Dining Plan has been part of Disney packages for years. In the past we used to advise against the plan for vegans, as there weren’t many on menu options, or there were they often significantly cheaper. However, since the Plant-Based push that started in October of 2019, the vegan choices and options have grown a ton and now the dining plan is looking to be worth it for vegans.

The biggest question we get about it are how to use your snack credits. When you’re on the dining plan, no matter which one you choose, you get two snack credits per person per night of stay. Which can end up being a lot of snacks if you don’t know how to use them! 7 nights = 14 snacks per person!

We’ve compiled a list of the best uses of snack credits for vegans in 2020.

Cookies ‘n Cream Mousse, Vegan Fruit Dessert, and Vegan Cupcake at Sunshine Seasons

Cookies ‘n Cream Chocolate Mousse Cup

These vegan desserts are all eligible as a snack credit! Just head to Sunshine Seasons in Epcot and grab one (or all) of these vegan as is treats from the dessert booth. Just know that each item is its own snack credit. [Cookies ‘n Cream review here]

Vegan Beignets from Port Orleans French Quarter’s Scat Cat Club

Vegan Beignets and Berry Dipping Sauce

If you get an order of 3 vegan beignets (not 6), they count as a snack credit! This is one of the best uses of a credit, plus they’re absolutely delicious. Make a plan to get these while you’re visiting. They have these all day, which means you should absolutely get them for breakfast. [Beignet review here]

Dole Soft Serve

Whether you go for a classic Pineapple Dole Whip Float at Aloha Isle, or change it up with a swirl of lemon and lime at Pineapple Lanai you can use your snack credit. Typically you can find vegan dole soft serve at Aloha Isle, Sunshine Tree Terrace, and Storybook Treats in Magic Kingdom, Tamu Tamu in Animal Kingdom, Pineapple Lanai at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, and Everything Pop! at Pop Century Resort. Epcot Festival Booths

The IMPOSSIBLE Burger Slider from Food & Wine 2019

Doesn’t matter which festival it is, these guys are always on the dining plan! Whether you’re here for Flower and Garden, or Food and Wine, you’ll have several snacks to get. Just note that the Festival of the Holidays and Festival of the Arts options are usually much more slim.

Plantain Chips from Tortuga Tavern

Plantain Chips with Black Bean Salsa

This is a newer option from 2019. Tortuga Tavern is located in Magic Kingdom and has often run seasonally. They now have a great vegan snack with plantain chips and a black bean salsa. It’s a decent size too and can easily be shared. [Full review here]

Tortilla Chips (no queso) Pecos Bill’s Tall Tale Inn & Cafe

Build your own Nachos!

At Pecos Bill’s they have a full toppings bar. So head here, use your snack credit for the Tortilla Chips & Queso (hold the queso) and load those guys up at the toppings bar! They have salsas, lettuce, peppers and more. You can also get a side of black beans to really kick it up and make it a lunch. Unfortunately the guacamole is now extra here, but you can use a credit for that too but I wouldn’t. [Full Pecos Bill review]

Coffee!

At both Starbucks and Joffrey’s you can use your snack credits for beverages. Joffrey’s has almond milk available for drinks, Starbucks has several non-dairy milks to choose from. My friends say the biggest bang or your buck is a huge vegan frappucino from Starbucks.

Pre-Packaged snacks

Enjoy Life Cookies

It’s pretty much a guarantee you’re going to end up with snack credits at the end of your stay. The best thing you can do is load up on the packaged snacks to take with you! You can get an entire box of Enjoy Life cookies on the dining plan, as well as other treats like candies, Snacks with Character items, and more! Just poke around your resort shop during you stay. Quinoa Salad from Kusifari Coffee Shop

Quinoa Salad (Thank you Jess for the photo)

This is a newer option over in Animal Kingdom in the Harambe Village. It’s a small spot, and mostly caters to morning crowds. This can be a good snack option when looking for something less processed and more whole foods. Although Jess didn’t rave about it when we talked about her having it.

Popcorn – Regular and Outpost Mix

Refillable Popcorn Bucket

This is kind of a given, but the popcorn is a great snack option. The “buttered” flavor found all over, the maple found in Epcot’s Canada pavilion, and the Outpost Mix at Kat Saka’s Kettle in Hollywood Studio are all vegan. A thing to note, the popcorn buckets are not a snack credit, but filling them up is.

Blue and Green Milk from the Milk Stand

Non-Alcoholic Milks

In Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios you can find the Milk Stand. Here there are two vegan frozen milks available, both made with a mix of coconut and rice milk. One is fruity, the other is more floral. We’ve heard they’re best when mixed together. The boozy versions are not snack credits.

LeFou’s Brew in Magic Kingdom

LeFous’ Brew without Whipped Cream (Thank you Diana for the photo)

Another drink option on the dining plan is in Magic Kingdom. At Gaston’s Tavern you can get LeFou’s Brew as a frothy frozen treat. The drink is apple slush based and has a hint of vegan marshmallow flavoring. They currently no longer have the vegan mango foam, so be sure to ask and order yours without the whipped cream. Pretzels

This one is kind of a given, similar to the popcorn. But the plain salted pretzels in Disney are all vegan, and a snack credit! So whether you want Mickey or Simba you are good to go. Just be sure to specify no cheese cup when ordering. Unfortunately I don’t believe the Jumbo Pretzel in Epcot is on the Disney Dining Plan.

Ice Cream

Vegan ice cream from Dino-Bite Snacks

You can find vegan ice cream all over Disney World! Some of the locations are the Plaza Ice Cream Parlor (Magic Kingdom), Dino-Bite Snacks (Animal Kingdom), Hollywood Scoops (Hollywood Studios), Beaches & Cream (Disney’s Beach Club Resort), and lastly the sorbet from L’Artisan des Glaces (Epcot). Just ask to speak with a coordinator to get the vegan ice cream. Most of these places have it laid out with what is a snack credit and what isn’t, usually just a single scoop.

Back in 2014 I created Vegan Disney World after going to Walt Disney World several times and finding no resource for vegan options. Corey and I began this blog from our trips and have now moved closer to the mouse to eat around the parks on a weekly basis. Since the blog started we have cruised on Disney Cruise Line, gone to Tokyo Disneyland and to Disneyland in California!

  1. Yesterday I had the cinnamon glazed pecans, in Animal Kingdom. I think the stand was in Asia. They also had almonds. They were warm, smelt incredible and were a really nice sweet treat!! Great use of a snack credit as they are easily shareable 😊
