Vegan options at Galaxy’s Edge

It is time for Galaxy’s Edge to open at Disney’s Hollywood Studios! The official opening date is August 29th. All month they have been doing previews for Cast Members and now Passholders. We were able to snag a spot for previews and check out the land and food they will be offering!

The most talked about vegan option in Galaxy’s Edge has to be the Blue and Green Milk, this can be found at the Milk Stand. The milk is made with a blend of rice and coconut milks. There are two variations of these, one with alcohol and one without. The description of Blue is that is has “fruity characteristics” and Green is “zippy citrus and tropical characteristics”.

Non-Alcoholic Milks

We personally decided to get them with alcohol. Green is with tequila and Blue is rum. The round glasses are non alcoholic and square are alcoholic. We weren’t in love with these. It was interesting to try one time, but not something we’d get again. Out of the two we preferred blue, it was more of a bubblegum flavor. The green reminded us of a bad fruit punch. They are icy like a smoothie too.

We also checked out Kat Saka’s Kettle for their vegan popcorn. The Outpost Popcorn Mix is vegan as is and features a mix of sweet and spicy popcorn. The popcorn was much like kettle corn. As a whole this thing was weird, but I didn’t not like it. I preferred the spicy pieces to the sweet. It was a unique mix of flavors and they were a nice crunchy snack.

For actual food we hit up Docking Bay 7 which is the quick service. On the menu there is a vegan option called the Felucian Garden Spread. The dish comes with Impossible meat “kefta”, hummus, and pita.

This dish was probably one of, if not the, best quick service meals I’ve had in Disney World. The “kefta” were filled with spices, Impossible meat, and quinoa. They were massive too. In being totally honest, when I first was handed this dish I didn’t think it was going to be much food, but the “kefta” balls were massive and super filling. They did have some heat to them, but the hummus helped cool any of that down. The hummus was incredibly creamy. The pita bread was good, nothing special. On top of the “kefta” was a cucumber and tomato relish which mixed well with everything else. Next time we plan on splitting this dish.

On their kids menu there is the Taste of Takodana. This can be vegan when ordered without the ranch dip. It includes a black bean hummus, carrot, cucumber, cauliflower, and grape tomatoes.

Lastly, we checked out Oga’s Cantina which is the spot. Oga’s Cantina is a bar that currently requires reservations (at 180 days like dining). They have a 45 minute limit and 2 drink max. We asked about the snack they have on the menu and was told it wasn’t vegan. As for drinks, it appears there are only two non-vegan options. The T-16 Skyhopper contains half & half, and the Black Spire Brew contains honey. Additionally the provisions contain gelatin.

While at Oga’s we had a Bespin Fizz, Fuzzy Tauntaun, Jet Juice, and Yub Nub. All of the drinks were great, my favorite was the Fuzzy Tauntaun. The drinks were all juice heavy and pre-made.

Oga’s Cantina is 90% standing room and open to all ages. DJ-Rex plays some sweet tunes at the Cantina and it is a lively spot. For Star Wars fans this is a must see.

Galaxy’s Edge is phenomenal. The whole land is incredibly immersive. Smugglers Run was a blast, try to be a pilot at least once! All of the cast members do a great job being in character too. While in Galaxy’s Edge you can build a Lightsaber at Savi’s Workshop (I’m doing that in November!) or a droid at the Droid Depot. Our friends Marci and Andrew hit up the Droid Depot during their preview.

When building a droid you pick between at R-Series or BB-Series. Once you have that decided you head to the conveyer belt and get your pieces. From there you build them (with assistance of course), and then bring your droid to life! They interact in Galaxy’s Edge and are remote controlled. The droids are $99.

I hope you love Galaxy’s Edge as much as we did! Rise of the Resistance (the other attraction at Galaxy’s Edge) will be opening in December of this year. See our vlog below from our time at the Passholder Preview.

Back in 2014 I created Vegan Disney World after going to Walt Disney World several times and finding no resource for vegan options. Corey and I began this blog from our trips and have now moved closer to the mouse to eat around the parks on a weekly basis. Since the blog started we have cruised on Disney Cruise Line, gone to Tokyo Disneyland and to Disneyland in California!
