The vegan options just keep coming this summer! One of the newest options is the Impossible Burger at the House of Blues in Disney Springs. This option popped up in August and is on the menu, vegan as-is. We went to “investigate” soon after hearing of this new option.
We had never eaten at the House of Blues before, and honestly had only been over in that area of Disney Springs in the last few years to see Cirque Du Soleil before it closed. So we didn’t really know where the restaurant was. The building is huge as it houses a concert venue, a shop, and a restaurant. For others who had never been here, the restaurant is all the way on the end under the House of Blues water tower.
We were able to get a table for 3 on a Sunday afternoon with no reservation, however I always recommend having a reservation when dining in Disney World. I had seen the burger was doing great and they had been running out of them, so I didn’t want to commit to a reservation without knowing they had it at the time. I asked the hostess who then radioed the kitchen and told us they did have them. I went to grab Corey and Finn and we were seated. Our hostess said she is also vegan and mentioned how she often gets the Mushroom Tacos modified to be vegan (just order it without the dairy).
Once seated we noticed the burger wasn’t on the menu, even though it shows it online. However, there was a table card that talked about the burger. Hopefully they actually put it on the menu soon, as our table didn’t even have the card that said it.
We spoke with our server and ordered two burgers, one single patty and one double patty. She confirmed that the burgers are cooked on their own cook top, so there is no cross contamination with meat. The burgers come with vegan American cheese (Follow Your Heart), a special secret sauce (made with vegan mayo), lettuce, and pickles. A single patty is $16, a double is $21 (during our visit).
Quickly our burgers arrived and we were ready to dig in. The single patty burger looked sad compared to Corey’s double. Although it looked sad, it tasted great. The bun was super soft and secret sauce reminded us of a Big Mac sauce from way back when. The cheese was nice to have and was almost melted.
The burgers were cooked well, not dry and over cooked like some people often complain about with Impossible Burgers. I didn’t get too much sauce on my burger, but Corey’s had plenty. So it seems the consistency isn’t totally there yet. In general, I appreciate a simple burger topping with pickles, so I was really into this. Although if they’re under the burger, are they toppings?
Corey was unsure if the double would be too much “meat”, but he really enjoyed it. He did say it was super filling though. I think next time I’ll try the double too.
We both really enjoyed the burgers. We have talked about them a lot since and are planning on going back soon for these. If you’re not into super “meaty” vegan options, I’d give those tacos a try!
