Restaurantosaurus – Impossible Burger

Edit: This was just for the 20th Celebration in May, it is no longer available. They do have a vegan vegetable burger available upon request.

Recently Animal Kingdom in Walt Disney World celebrated it’s 20th anniversary! During the celebration they had a few special things happening in the parks, from meet and greets, to dance parties, to certain foods. One of the food items they were offering for the two week celebration was the Impossible Burger at both Nomad Lounge in Africa, and at Restaurantosaurus in Dino-Land USA. Once the celebration ended the Impossible burger was still holding on.

Restaurantosaurus

We had heard of people asking cast members about them and being told they were left over from the party and when they sell through them they’re gone. However, it seems that the burger has lasted at Restaurantosaurus, so we had to check it out!

The last time I ate in Restaurantosaurus was probably 2011, given that they have a very meat heavy menu I had avoided them since going vegan. But for the Impossible Burger, I was willing to go back.

Impossible Burger Menu

The Impossible Burger isn’t on the main menu here, instead it is on a card at the register. The burger itself comes with a few toppings, even though this restaurant offers a toppings bar. After speaking with a coordinator we were told that bun is a vegan brioche and that there are two things we must remove when ordering to make sure it is vegan. He told us to remove the generic sauce on it as well as the guacamole. Guacamole? We were equally confused, he then said it was mixed with a sauce. We then assumed he meant the sauce we had to remove, but he told us they are separate sauces and that the guac is made with a non-vegan sauce, so we can’t have it. As I said before, this restaurant has a toppings bar, so I wasn’t concerned. He did also inform us that they have the vegan Malibu burger here too.

Our burgers took a while, which we didn’t expect with it being an “on the menu” thing that it wouldn’t take as long as it did. The coordinator did come back out to inform us that the fries here are from a shared fryer, so if you avoid them they have apple slices (which he gave us as well).

Impossible Burger and fries

The Impossible Burger is “meaty” veggie burger. It is meant to resemble meat, as opposed to being a vegetable burger. The burger patty was very thin and was crispy on the outside. The toppings included micro greens and tomato.

On the toppings bar here you can find a ton options. They have sautéed mushrooms, peppers, and onions. These are cooked with oil. Additionally you can find pickles, tomatoes, banana peppers, lettuce and more. I ended up with some pickles and mustard for my burger.

Impossible Burger

We were all really pleased with this burger. We were a little unsure since it’s a quick service location, and these burgers can be very different depending on who makes them. It’s a nice change of vegan burger from the Beyond Burger, the only negative being that the Impossible Burger is not gluten free like the Beyond. We’ll absolutely be back here for this!

We did ask about the burgers at Nomad Lounge later in the day, they no longer have the Impossible Burger there.

Back in 2014 I created Vegan Disney World after going to Walt Disney World several times and finding no resource for vegan options. Corey and I began this blog from our trips and have now moved closer to the mouse to eat around the parks on a weekly basis. Since the blog started we have cruised on Disney Cruise Line, gone to Tokyo Disneyland and to Disneyland in California!

  1. We went there Sept 22 2018 and there was neither the Impossible burger nor the Vegan Malibu burger. There was a black bean burger. This lead to a confusing interaction with the cashier. In our experience at both Disneyland and Disney World, “cast members” often have no training with the term “vegan”. It’s so difficult to navigate our options as their options and menu items change so quickly. I applaud any and all efforts to serve the vegan/plant-based community but it’s downright frustrating to wait in a line for over 15 minutes to find changed options or limited understanding of the concept of vegan/plant-based. We’re on a wild goose chase.

With fingers crossed we ordered the black bean burger and accidentally ate the guacamole.
