Liberty Inn Vegetarian Burger

This review reflects our experience from October 2017.

Did you know you can travel the world in one afternoon? If you’re in Epcot at Walt Disney World you can! Epcot is split into two large sections, Future World and World Showcase. World Showcase features 11 pavilions representing different countries throughout the world. This is a great place to find a meal as a vegan as there are several options throughout the park.

During our last trip Liberty Inn at the America Pavilion updated their vegetarian item from a Freshly Grilled Vegetarian “Chickn” Breast to a mysterious Grilled Vegetarian Burger. We decided to go check it out! Liberty Inn is the only restaurant in the America pavilion and is a quick service restaurant. There is seating both inside and outside here.

When we walked up to Liberty Inn we looked at the board outside, below all of the main dishes with photos was just the phrase “Vegetable Burger” with no picture. Again, mysterious!

We went in to order and asked the cast member for the allergy binder. Instead of the binder she handed us the allergy menu. Upon inspecting the menu we noticed under the egg and dairy allergies it said to get the Grilled Vegetarian Burger with the Allergy Friendly bun.

We started to order and asked for the allergy version of the Vegetarian Burger. The cast member asked about the allergy and we said we were vegan. She quickly said “I believe the burger is vegan as is!” Which, if you have ever ordered anything and someone says they believe something, you want proof. So she asked another cast member to bring the binder, which we had originally asked for.

The allergy binder had a sheet for the burger, at the top it said Vegan Friendly! To our surprise the whole burger was vegan as is! Brioche bun, fried onions, barbecue sauce and all. The burger was actually a Beyond Meat Beyond Burger, which seem to be popping up all over property. This burger is gluten free, so you can ask about a vegan gluten free bun or just get the burger on a bed of lettuce if needed.

We ordered our burgers and fries, which are in shared fryer, and waited. We ended up waiting about 10 minutes for our burgers and then sat down to dig in.

The burgers were a good size, as they are if you buy them at the store, but there could have been more in the toppings. The lettuce and tomato didn’t add much to the burger.

The crispy onions weren’t too crispy and we couldn’t really taste the barbecue sauce. There is a condiment station if you want to skip the bbq sauce and just do ketchup or mustard. Additionally, there is more bbq sauce at the condiment staton. The burger itself was good and the brioche was nice and soft.

This, to us, was an improvement from the vegetarian chickn breast. This felt like more of a proper meal. If you don’t do shared fryers, you can sub the fries for apple slices or other kids meal sides.

The Beyond Meat Beyond Burger has been popping up all over property. If you’re looking to try it, it has been confirmed at Port Orleans French Quarter’s Sassagoula Floatworks, Art of Animation’s Landscape of Flavors, Chip and Dale’s Campfire Sing-a-long (The Chuck Wagon) at Fort Wilderness, and here at Epcot’s Liberty Inn.

Would we go back?
Yes, it was a reasonable price, quick, and filling.

Back in 2014 I created Vegan Disney World after going to Walt Disney World several times and finding no resource for vegan options. Corey and I began this blog from our trips and have now moved closer to the mouse to eat around the parks on a weekly basis. Since the blog started we have cruised on Disney Cruise Line, gone to Tokyo Disneyland and to Disneyland in California!

  1. We just checked July 2018, and they told us the bun is NOT vegan. They even looked up the gluten free bun for us but that has egg in it. They offered the caesaC salad with half the stuff removed but we passed. I was so excited for this too 🙁

    1. Did they say what was in it? Did they look at the actual package or just the binder? We’ve seen this be a off and on of then saying it’s vegan and not.

  2. Thank you for this! We enjoy the Beyond Burgers at home, and it is great to know they are an option at Disney! We are staying at the Port Orleans French Quarter in January and will look forward to having one then or at the parks.
