Burgers and Sundaes at Beaches and Cream

This review reflects our experience in January 2016.

Often when looking for dining options many people look for the desserts. Everyone knows a good dessert can really make a meal. We had found out that Beaches & Cream Soda Shop at Disney’s Beach Club offered vegan ice cream so we knew we had to give it a try. We were even more excited when we saw there was a house made veggie burger that had the potential of being vegan.

We were able to walk in without a reservation, but first we asked the hostess outside about the veggie burger. Beaches and Cream is one of the rare restaurants where you don’t actually interact with a chef but with the manager. The manager came out and spoke with us about the veggie burger and informed us that the patty is vegan, however, the bun and garlic-pepper corn cream are not. She also noted that the patty was cooked on a shared grill and that they are willing to cook it separately at the kitchen for Cape May.

Since we didn’t have a reservation we were sat at the bar, luckily facing the ice cream and toppings and not the grill. This restaurant is often very busy so we recommend an Advance Dining Reservation for here. Additionally there is a to-go counter if you want to grab a sundae for the road.

Our server came over and we informed her we had spoken with the manager. She went and grabbed the manager who then retook our order. We both got Beaches Veggie Burgers without buns or cream and decided to share an Old Fashioned Sundae.

After about 10 minutes our food arrived from another kitchen. The burger patty is mostly made of quinoa and was surprisingly firm. We spoke with our server about the patty as he was excited about this newer item. He actually said he preferred it without a bun because it was really messy with the bread.

The patty was pretty crispy and very flavorful. This was one of the best veggie burgers we have ever had on property. The burger was really filling too, we weren’t hungry again for quite a few hours which was nice. The quinoa had a great texture in the burger. The only complaint we had about it was that it was kind of hard to eat with our large pieces of lettuce, but that’s not really a complaint. The fries were fresh and crispy, they are cooked in a shared fryer.

For our sundae we opted for the Old Fashioned Sundae that offers two toppings with your choice of two scoops of ice cream. We got two scoops of vanilla Tofutti ice cream, peanut butter sauce and Oreos. The peanut butter sauce is just heated Jif peanut butter. The sundae was incredible! The hot peanut butter on the cold ice cream was a perfect blend. If Tofutti isn’t your brand of choice, Rice Dream is also available. Many of their sundaes can be made vegan, you just have to ask. Another easily made vegan option is the No Way Jose Sundae that has peanut butter, hot fudge (chocolate syrup) and ice cream, you can check it out here on Gluten Free and Dairy Free in WDW. We highly recommend stopping by for at least a delicious dessert on your next trip.

Would we go back?
Absolutely! The burger was excellent and the sundae was out of this world.

Back in 2014 I created Vegan Disney World after going to Walt Disney World several times and finding no resource for vegan options. Corey and I began this blog from our trips and have now moved closer to the mouse to eat around the parks on a weekly basis. Since the blog started we have cruised on Disney Cruise Line, gone to Tokyo Disneyland and to Disneyland in California!

  1. We were just at Beaches and Cream today (9th May ’17) and they advised that their veggie burgers have egg in them now. Just a heads up. The sundaes are the only vegan option on the menu apart from sides.

  2. The regular oreo is not vegan…or were those vegan oreos they served you on your Tofutti ice cream?

  3. This looks so good! ..I rarely eat out of park or out of my own hotel. Your posts make me want to remedy that.

  4. This looks great! In searching for vegan options in the whole of Disney world for my kids. I’ve noticed the only non meat options seem to be snickers pie things and mac and cheese, nothing vegan and nothing healthy.
Do you know of any vegan family meals please?

    1. I know you can get a veggie bowl from Pecos Bills that is vegan when you ask for plain white rice and is actually on the kids menu! I have seen many people post that the chefs were able to accommodate their vegan kids at many places. You just may not be able to get anything listed on the menu, but if there is an adult item that can be made vegan they can typically make a kids version as well.
Here are two posts we’ve shared that include kids options; https://vegandisneyworld.com/2016/01/14/ohana-best-friends-breakfast-featuring-lilo-stitch/

      Hope that helps!

      1. It does, we aren’t going until Easter ’17 so hopefully they will have even more options by then. It appears to be getting better and better ! 🙂
