‘Ohana – Best Friends Breakfast featuring Lilo & Stitch

Friend of the blog, Sara, recently went to Disney World, here is her review about ‘Ohana breakfast!

Our review of our visit in December 2015:

‘Ohana is located at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. We took the bus from our resort to the Magic Kingdom and then rode a boat to the Polynesian. It was a beautiful day and the boat ride was fast and fun!

We were a bit worried about what we could eat since the menu advertised consists of: scrambled eggs, Island-style fried potatoes, Hawaiian pork sausages, smoked bacon and a variety of fresh fruits and breads – pretty much nothing we can eat. But we were hopeful and on a mission to meet Stitch!

Hello Cousins! ‘Ohana means family and at this Character Dining, guests meet Mickey, Pluto, Lilo, and Stich. All of the servers call you “cousin” and there are huge open windows and the place feels cozy. Servers bring “all you care to enjoy” to your table to enjoy family-style. We have an allergy and eat a vegan diet, so our receipt was marked with a red ALLERGY stamp. Our server welcomed us and told us she was going to get the chef – before she put anything on the table.

Meanwhile we met Mickey.

When Chef Chris came out, we explained we were vegan and without missing a beat, he told us he would make us allergy–friendly waffles which contain no dairy and a tofu scramble. And to let him know when we wanted more. It was that easy.

Shortly thereafter, our server brought us fresh fruit – melon, pineapple and raspberries. Along with coffee, and “Stich’s juice” which was ½ orange ½ mango juice. The coffee was good – not the Joffery’s you get most places. And the juice was good, although very sweet.

The chef then brought Mickey waffles and an amazing tofu scramble with tofu, onion, peppers, water chestnut, broccoli, and mushrooms (when we asked for more, they added carrots for the second round).  It was a great meal! The tofu was not too oily and it was filled with vegetables. It was seasoned simply with salt and pepper, we didn’t need to add anything. Other tables were looking at us with jealously in their eyes!

After we met all of the characters and posed for pictures (Stitch has his own photographer), there was a luau and a parade with maracas, lead by Lilo and Stitch. The entire experience was a lot of fun – and not just for kids!

Would we go back?
Totally. Everything about this meal was amazing – from the food to the characters, to the service, to the boat ride to get to and from!

Back in 2014 I created Vegan Disney World after going to Walt Disney World several times and finding no resource for vegan options. Corey and I began this blog from our trips and have now moved closer to the mouse to eat around the parks on a weekly basis. Since the blog started we have cruised on Disney Cruise Line, gone to Tokyo Disneyland and to Disneyland in California!
