An Evening At Citricos

This review reflects our experience in April of 2015.

If you are looking for a five star meal while in Disney World you should stop by Citricos in Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa. Citricos is a Signature Dining experience, which requires two Disney Dining Table Service credits. To dine in Citricos you’ll have to observe the dress code, which basically means semi-formal clothing, no flip flops, jeans or tank tops. The cuisine offered at Citricos is described as “Mediterranean-style”. The dining room is lively and bright, with beautiful views of the elegant grounds of the resort. Our friends Tara and Paul ate here in April of 2015, here is their review.

My husband and I first came to Citricos as a special treat for our 5th wedding anniversary in 2012. We loved it so much, we made a point of having one meal here during every trip since! We have been lucky enough to have Chef Phil come out to speak with us each time, and even prepare a few special appetizers for us. The wait staff are very knowledgable, bringing only vegan bread to the table and making a point of noting that they have Silk brand soy milk for coffee, etc.

The menu has always had one fantastic vegan tofu dish, which has changed two or three times over the past couple of years. The current offering is seared tofu, served with ratatouille, roasted mushrooms, lentils, spiralized veggies with a sun-dried tomato purée. The dish is incredibly flavorful and fresh-tasting, and the portion is large enough to leave you feeling full, but not stuffed.

For dessert, Citricos has Tofutti (usually both chocolate and vanilla), which is served with loads of delicious fresh berries.

We both agree that it is the best dish we have ever had, which is good considering the price tag ($30.00 for the entree). However, we agree that it is worth the price for the quality of food and service.

Would we go back?
Yes, we would go back, enthusiastically!

Back in 2014 I created Vegan Disney World after going to Walt Disney World several times and finding no resource for vegan options. Corey and I began this blog from our trips and have now moved closer to the mouse to eat around the parks on a weekly basis. Since the blog started we have cruised on Disney Cruise Line, gone to Tokyo Disneyland and to Disneyland in California!
