Vegan Cookies and Donuts, oh my!

When you’re walking around Walt Disney World property you will keep seeing many adults and children chowing down on cookies and cupcakes, you can’t help but feel upset that you can’t indulge as well. When we’re on vacation we want to be able to eat too many cookies and cupcakes too, that’s where BabyCakes NYC comes in. BabyCakes NYC is a New York based bakery, started by Erin McKenna, that provides allergy friendly baked goods. All of BabyCakes baked goods are vegan, gluten-free, soy-free, kosher and free of refined sugar.

Originally BabyCake’s Disney location was inside the Pollo Comparo building in Downtown Disney. Unfortunately this building was torn down in March 2014 to make way for the new development of Disney Springs. Luckily we weren’t left completely in the dark with vegan and gluten free treats as BabyCakes continues to supply various resorts and parks with their sweet snacks.

If you don’t want to search the Disney property for BabyCakes you can order from the bakery to have it delivered to your hotel room! We ordered cookie sandwiches and donuts on our trip in November 2014 and were ecstatic when the phone rang around 7:30 am that our donuts had arrived! More information about ordering will be at the end of this post.

If you’re celebrating a special event like a birthday, anniversary or wedding you can also order cakes from the Disney location of BabyCakes NYC. Not all restaurants will accept the BabyCakes delivery so make sure that where you are celebrating will allow this. BabyCakes should know when you call and order, almost all of Disney owned restaurants will accept the delivery. (Many of the restaurants in World Showcase at Epcot are not Disney owned).

If you’re really craving a donut or some cupcakes you should stop by the Garden’s Kiosk in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. This little kiosk is also known by it’s nickname of ‘The Allergy Kiosk.’ Here you can get donuts and cupcakes that are all provided by BabyCakes NYC. This is the only place in Disney Parks that you can walk up and order a BabyCakes treat.

BabyCakes items can also be found at several resorts. You can find mini cupcakes and other sweets at The BoardWalk Bakery at Disney’s BoardWalk, Landscape of Flavors at Disney’s Art of Animation, Everything Pop at Disney’s Pop Century, The Mara at Animal Kingdom Lodge and The Beach Club Marketplace at Disney’s Beach Club.

As of November 2014 paperwork has been publicly filed indicating that BabyCakes will be returning to Disney Springs. The new bakery will be called Erin McKenna’s Bakery Valentine which will have a bakery and store front with baking utensils. Disney Springs will slowly start opening during early 2015, no news on when the BabyCakes bakery will be opening.

Do you want to place an order for BabyCakes for a celebration or just treats in your room? Here’s what you need to do: call 407.938.9044 to talk to the bakery, they ask that you give them at least a 72 hour notice. There is a $10 fee for delivery and a minimum for certain treats. You can order everything that they had in their bakery previously including the various breads and cupcakes. If you have it delivered to your room they will drop it off early in the morning.

Back in 2014 I created Vegan Disney World after going to Walt Disney World several times and finding no resource for vegan options. Corey and I began this blog from our trips and have now moved closer to the mouse to eat around the parks on a weekly basis. Since the blog started we have cruised on Disney Cruise Line, gone to Tokyo Disneyland and to Disneyland in California!
